Hello, my sweets! We've had a great first week together! I want to put a few things on this post for you. It'll be a bit of a hodge-podge, but definitely come back to this if you need help with anything or lose any of the sheets I've given you.
The Glass Castle Socratic Seminar
First, note that we will be having a Socratic Seminar for The Glass Castle on Thursday. You will need to write 5 questions to ask during the seminar that deal with specifics from the book. You may want to check out this site to see the types of questions we'll be looking for. During the seminar, I will expect each of you to contribute to the discussion a minimum of 2 times. (The five questions are in case someone else has the same ones you do .) If you have your copy of the book, please bring it on Thursday. If yours is a digital version, you may use your phones to access the text. If you checked it out of the library or borrowed it and don't have it, at least have some important lines written down that you can reference during the seminar. Here's a PDF of the book.
Additional Resources
Below you will find the following: the RACE powerpoint I used in class, the PASTA powerpoint, the strong words handout, the tone words handout, the "C Word in the Hallways" essay, and the writing prompt for "The C Word in the Hallways." Feel free to reference these as needed.
